The Rio Report is a multilingual blog covering inter-American news and politics through the perspective of an American-Brazilian.

About Me

My name is Théo. I was born in Pennsylvania and spent most of my youth in Rio de Janeiro. My multicultural upbringing equipped me with a dichotomous perspective on law, society and the people’s relation with their government.

Both the similarities and differences between the US and Brazil have always fascinated me, and my goal with this blog is to create a space that fosters knowledge, dialogue and mutual understanding.

I graduated from UC San Diego in 2019 with a BA in Political Science and in August 2021, I will begin my JD at the University of Miami School of Law.

When I am not writing, you can find me doing photography, traveling somewhere new (on hold til the end of the pandemic) or attempting to learn a new language.

No matter where I am in the world, my thoughts always lead me to Rio, my eternal home — hence, the name “The Rio Report.”

Sobre Mim

Sou o Théo. Nasci na Pensilvânia e passei a maioria da minha juventude no Rio de Janeiro. Essa multiplicidade etno-cultural me muniu com uma perspectiva dicótoma sobre lei, sociedade, e a relação do povo com seu governo.

Ambas as similaridades e diferenças entre os Estados Unidos e o Brasil sempre me fascinaram, e meu objetivo com esse blog é promover um campo seguro para fomentar o conhecimento e abrir pontes de diálogo.

Eu me formei na UC San Diego em 2019 com um bacharel em Ciência Política e em agosto de 2021 começo meu curso de direito na Universidade de Miami.

Quando não estou escrevendo, você pode me encontrar praticando fotografia, viajando para lugares diferentes (em suspenso até o fim da pandemia), ou aprendendo uma língua nova.

Independente de onde estiver pelo mundo, meus pensamentos sempre me remetem ao Rio, minha eterna casa — por isso, o nome “The Rio Report.”
